The Detroit Youth Resource Alert Project will be powered by the RAP mobile application (“app”). A demo version is on Google Play Store, and we are currently seeking resources and raising monies to launch a completed version.

The RAP app will instantly and consistently alert subscribers to youth resources featured on the RAP map whenever they’re in close vicinity to them, as well as youth events, programs and activities.

It will also notify users of:

  • job, internship and scholarship opportunities
  • mentoring, volunteering and community service information
  • access to more than 15,000 colleges, universities, and technical and vocational schools
  • a 24-hour teen hotline

The RAP app will highlight :15 to :30 second video clips of teenagers discussing how they benefit from their involvement with youth service providers listed on RAP to leverage peer-to-peer engagement. Here’s a student-produced video that includes a segment, “Mentoring in Detroit”, featuring several teens and their appreciation for Teen Hype, a RAP youth-serving organization (courtesy of Plug & Play Studio).
